The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has officially suspended its two weeks warning strike after 10 days of industrial action. This decision was announced on October 22, 2025, by ASUU’s National President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, with a directive for all members to resume academic activities starting Thursday, October 23, 2025, across public universities in Nigeria.
ASUU’s demands remain unchanged, full implementation of the 2009 ASUU-FGN Agreement, including revitalization funding, payment of earned academic allowances, and promotion arrears. The union has rejected the recent 35% salary increment proposed by the Federal Government, describing it as inadequate.
While the government claims it has made progress with some disbursements and adjustments, ASUU has given a one-month ultimatum, warning that failure to meet their demands by November 22, 2025, could lead to a full-blown, indefinite strike.
In line with this national directive, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma will officially resume academic activities on Thursday, October 23, 2025. All students are expected to return to campus, pay their school fee, and register their courses properly, as the second semester examination is fast approaching.
